Ex-Minister Calls for Action After Tragic Crime

The former Minister of Security of the Nation, Sabina Frederic, commented on the crime of the girl Kim Gómez, expressing that the two suspects, aged 14 and 17, should be condemned. However, she questioned the role of society in preventing these violent acts.

Frederic mentioned that the murder of the 7-year-old girl in La Plata was a terrible event and highlighted the need for harsher penalties. Despite this, she pointed out that no effective measures are being taken to prevent criminal violence.

In an interview, the former official noted that over the past 25 years, penalties have become harsher, but emphasized that this has not been enough to stop crime. She referred to the case of Axel Bloomberg in 2004 as a turning point regarding the tightening of penalties, but stressed that crime rates have not significantly decreased.

Sabina Frederic mentioned the importance of implementing different approaches to address various situations and highlighted the lack of emphasis on preventive work. As an example, she pointed to the problem of school absenteeism in the province of Buenos Aires and how this can contribute to the creation of future criminals.

The former minister warned about the impact of drugs on young people, noting that those involved in the murder of Kim Gómez were already affected. She highlighted the lack of sensitivity and attention towards these individuals, emphasizing that without adequate preventive measures, violent situations can worsen.
